5 Questions with April
I live in Central New York and work as an RN full time. I have 5 kids and my first grandchild on the way. I just turned 40 and I finally know what I really want to be when I grow up! An artist! I have had some bad times the last few years and art has brought me out of my funk. It has brought me back to myself and I love it. Creating art is soothing for my soul!

1. What color (or combination of colors) best represents your current mood, and how would you incorporate it into a piece?
I would say my current mood could be represented by the color blue. Not because I am sad, but because I am calm. I would use it as a main color, swimming all over the page, as the background color.
2. What’s a completely ordinary moment in your day that feels strangely sacred to you?
I am not sure why, but driving home from work feels sacred to me. I finally get to go to my happy place, my home and work on some art, which is also quite sacred to me.
3. You wake up inside your favorite piece you've created—what’s the first thing you notice?
I would notice how bright the blue sky is, yet dark and moody with shades of purple. I would notice how crisp the night air is.
4. What item in your house do you think has the most stories about it?
This is kind of apparent, but it would have to be my big photo collage in my living room. I tried to incorporate everyone in my life who is special to me. There are a lot of good memories in the collage with family and friends.
5. If your creativity came with a user manual, what’s one totally bizarre warning label it would have?
That it is totally unpredictable. There is no way I ever know how I am going to get my thoughts and feelings out into art, it just comes to me and I put it on paper as it comes. I don’t really preplan what I want to make when I am being creative, my hands just take over.
