5 QUESTIONS WITH RHONDA

As a Navy Wife, Rhonda discovered she was an explorer. As an explorer, she fed her curiosity. As she fed her curiosity, she became an ardent reader, a writer of poetry, and a journal keeper. Rhonda has resided on the east and west coast of the United States, in Alexandria, Egypt, and traveled around the world, but now she has settled at “Moose Crossing,” her little cabin on the shores of Soft Maple Reservoir. She remains an explorer of words: in the pages of books, her journal, and in the company of her fellow members at the Croghan Free Library’s Writers Group.

1. What’s something you once believed about creativity that you no longer do?

When I was young, I believed that creativity was born at first breath. It was possessed. I learned that it is a gift of our senses. If one pays attention and is patient, creativity is to be discovered.

2. What’s a belief you’ve let go of in the best possible way?

I have discovered that beliefs held too tight are burdens. One's open mind invites creativity and wonder.

3. What’s a hobby you tried once and decided absolutely not?

My mother once attempted to teach me to crochet. We failed then, but that moment remains in my mind, as my mother remains in my heart, so, maybe one day I will master crocheting.

4. What’s the “oops, that actually worked” moment in your creative process?

Are there “oops” moments? Maybe, all moments are “oops” moments, or all moments are collected to make a life.

5. What food combination makes people judge you but you love it?

I cannot think of any food combinations that I consume that are extraordinary. No one has ever said, “What are you eating?” with an implied exclamation point. I think that my tastes in food are unexceptional.
