5 QUESTIONS WITH JULIE

They say your roots always call you home. Born & raised in the North Country and coming back, has brought me full circle. Starting my journey as a podcaster, Nearest And Dearest Podcast - Bridging Family Dynamics in the fall of 2021, began my own self-discovery.

I'm blessed to be a wife, mother, grandmother, friend, advocate & volunteer in my community.

1. What’s something you’ve changed your mind about recently?

I have embraced my natural gray hairs! The tedious task and never ending monthly ritual of buying root touch up hair dye to mask my grays, has lost its power over me! I’m a proud, 60 years “young woman”, who is ready to look in the mirror and be thankful for earning every gray hair I have!

2. What question do you wish people asked more often?

I wish people would ask themselves “How can I view my cup as half full vs half empty?” Throughout my own life’s journey, the ups & downs life has thrown at me, I try to look at the positives I always have to be grateful for. The alternative, is being stuck in the negativity that all too often, can consume the positives and leave no joy or hope.

3. What’s a lesson you had to learn repeatedly?

My biggest life lesson is that I can only control my own choices & actions & be responsible for both. No one can change or control anyone else.

4. What’s the weirdest compliment you’ve ever received?

Dressing up as Count Dracula for a company employee Halloween party that even my supervisor didn’t know who I was! It wasn’t until I talked, did he realize it was me! No mask, just makeup, vampire teeth, slicked my short hair back, men’s clothes & shoes.

5. What keeps you curious?

Realizing that life is too short. Waking up every day to a blank page, while my mind is racing to decide what do I want to do today?! Between my family life, my volunteer/advocacy work I happily choose to do for the Alzheimer’s Association, my podcast and my very important reminder, my own self-love, there is plenty to keep me curious! I am blessed to be retired. I don’t take that for granted. I want to use my time wisely, thoughtfully, lovingly and fearlessly.
